Istanbul in 60 Seconds

Come see Istanbul with me in just 60 seconds! Although it’s had many names from Byzantium to New Rome to Constantinople, this incredible city has existed since 700 BC. The Hagia Sofia was built in 500 AD and was once the largest indoor space in the world. It was wild to try and navigate the infamous Grand Bazaar with its 4,000 shops and aggressive commerce. I learned so much about Turkey’s unique position at the crossroads of the east + the west.

Istanbul is one of the most enchanting, affordable and delicious places I've ever been! And the furry friends that visit during meals are a bonus.

I loved the constant stream of coffee and was the grateful recipient for the legendary Turkish hospitality. I met many resilient and compassionate people from Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Kurdistan, and Georgia who now call Turkey home.

We even had the privilege to share a Ramadan tradition of iftar with our new friends, Danyal and Alex. I’m grateful for the chance to experience life in this exceptional place and can’t wait to come back!
