Is This the Perfect Travel Outfit? My Aviator USA Experience

Updated: 4 hours ago

As an adventurous and on-the-go momma, I'm always on the hunt for gear that genuinely makes life with a toddler easier, more comfortable, and, let's be honest, more stylish. That's why I'm a huge fan of Aviator USA. Their clothes aren't just well-made; they're designed with the traveler in mind, making it possible to "wear more and pack less" – a mantra I live by, especially with a toddler in tow! You always need that extra pocket...

You'll find the Aviator USA Headquarters down a long hallway on the 11th floor in one of Downtown LA's beautiful office buildings in the Fashion District.

When the opportunity arose to visit Aviator USA's showroom in Downtown LA, I jumped at it. My little adventurer and I made the field trip from Santa Monica, excited to see where the magic happens and learn more about the brand that's quickly become a staple in my travel wardrobe. We were warmly greeted by Colby Kane, the founder and CEO of Aviator USA, and his absolutely delightful dog, Jet. Right away, you could feel the passion Colby has for his brand and his commitment to quality. It wasn't just a quick tour; it was an insightful conversation about the philosophy behind Aviator USA. And as someone who has long championed "Made in USA" products, this was a dream!

One of the things that truly stands out about Aviator USA is their dedication to sustainability. In a world of fast fashion, it's refreshing to find a brand that prioritizes ethical and environmentally conscious practices. Here's what I learned:

  • Local Production: All Aviator USA products are made right there in Los Angeles. This isn't just about supporting local communities; it significantly reduces their carbon footprint by avoiding overseas mass production.

  • Tight Knit Team: Their small but mighty three-person office team orchestrates operations, supported by a much larger workforce at the factory just around the corner on 58th and Central Avenue.

  • Small Batches & Reduced Waste: They purposefully make their jeans in small batches around ~300 pairs and build inventory through pre-orders and customer data. This meticulous approach minimizes waste at every step.

  • Conscious Fabric Choices: Their hoodies and tops are made with 100% Merino Wool, and for good reason! Merino wool is a traveler's dream: naturally antimicrobial, wrinkle-resistant, and quick-drying, meaning you can wear pieces multiple times before needing to wash them. This saves water and reduces the need for harsh detergents. Plus, their Merino wool is sourced from New Zealand, where strict laws ensure ethical treatment of sheep. These clothes are made to last!

  • The Archive Shop: Instead of discarding jeans with minor defects, Aviator USA has the "Archive Shop," offering these pieces at a reduced price, further reducing waste.

Beyond the impressive sustainability efforts, I got to try on some new pieces from their collection. Each item truly lives up to the "travel-friendly" promise. The fabrics are incredibly soft and comfortable, designed to withstand the rigors of travel while still looking chic. Think hidden zipper pockets, cuffs that double as mittens on their hoodies, and quick-drying materials that mean less laundry on the road. It's clear that every detail is thoughtfully designed to make a traveler's life easier.

This gorgeous chambray dress (very me) has two handy + sleek zippered pockets. And it's nearly one-of-a-kind at a production of only 148 pieces!

Meeting Colby and seeing the passion behind Aviator USA really reinforced why I love their brand so much. It's more than just clothes; it's about a commitment to quality, sustainability, and making travel more comfortable and effortless. My son even got some laughs with Jet, which made the experience even more memorable!

To all my fellow adventurers, consider upgrading your travel essentials with Aviator USA. While they're a step up in price from brands like Vuori and Fabletics, their commitment to durability and ethical, sustainable production makes them worth every penny. You're supporting hardworking individuals in their Fashion District factory, ensuring your clothes are made to last for countless adventures.

Personally, my recent trips to Ireland and Iceland were made much smoother thanks to the comfort and performance of my new Aviator USA pieces! They're so chic and comfortable, in fact, I even wore the First Class Hoodie and Jogger Pants while filming a commercial with my husband, Josh.
